Welcome! How can we help?

Setting up your XperCount

The following steps will take you through the process of setting up your XperCount so you can start counting your organisms and viewing your data online. You will need to have a wireless connection to complete the setup process.

Step 1: Log into your XpertSea account

If you haven't set up your XpertSea account yet, search your inbox for an email from XpertSea titled Welcome to XpertSea.

With your XpertSea account up and running, go to xpertsea.com and select Log in to access your account, or type app.xpertsea.com in your browser's address bar.

Step 2: Match your lids and buckets

Every XperCount lid is precisely calibrated to its own unique bucket. For this reason, XperCount lids and buckets ARE NOT interchangeable and should only ever be used as a matching unit. If you only own 1 XperCount, you don’t need to worry about this for now. However, if you purchased multiple XperCount devices, please take the time to ensure that the serial number on the bucket matches the serial number on the lid for each unit prior to each count.

Step 3: Plug in and turn on

Plug your XperCount’s electronic lid into a grounded wall outlet using the included power adaptor. Turn your device on by pressing down on the power button. ALWAYS CHARGE YOUR DEVICE FROM A GROUNDED WALL OUTLET. DAMAGES RESULTING FROM NON-GROUNDED CHARGING ARE NOT COVERED BY OUR STANDARD WARRANTY.

Step 4: Connect to Wi-Fi

Follow these simple steps on your XperCount’s touchscreen:

  1. Swipe down from the status bar at the top of the screen to open the notifications tray. Swipe down again to open the quick settings panel, and touch the settings icon in the upper right corner.

  2. Under “Wireless & networks,” touch Wi-Fi.

  3. Touch the Wi-Fi switch to turn it to the On position.

  4. You’ll see a list of saved and available networks.

  5. Touch a network name from the list of available networks to connect to it. You’ll see a lock icon if the network is secured and you need to enter a password to connect.

  6. Once connected, your device will say “Connected” under the network name and it will show up in your saved networks list. In the future, your device will automatically connect to your saved network when in range.

Step 5: Wait for your organism apps to download

Once you are connected to a wireless network, your XperCount will automatically download and install a system update containing the applications you purchased. The user interface will notify you that the update has been downloaded and your XperCount will reboot one last time to finish the installation. Don't touch the screen while your XperCount is updating. After your device has restarted, the XperCount program will open automatically and your applications will then be displayed on the main screen.

Congratulations, you’re ready to start counting!
